Throughout the summer the local towns and villages put on public festivals for the benefit of their residents, visitors and tourists. These events usually last for several days and include music concerts held in the evening on specially constructed stages in the main piazzas. These celebrations are family orientated and designed to appeal to all age groups. The Contursi Festival is an annual event and is by far the largest held in the local area. The entire town comes out to celebrate in typical Italian style, as shown below.
